After last week’s brilliant debut, She-Hulk is back on our screens!
For the second week running, the writing is super slick and impressive, and this is just enhanced by Tatiana’s outstanding performance. She feels like such a great casting, and she is really excelling in the role! The episode flies by and the great pacing is another tribute to the quality of the writing and direction.
With her newly showcased superpowers, Jennifer’s legal career takes an unexpected twist, and the episode does a great job of reinforcing the fact that, at this stage, she wants to be a lawyer and not a superhero. We got that sense of reluctance in the first episode, but this factor really takes centre stage this week. It’s not a spoiler, as it was in the trailer, that Jennifer is now tasked with leading a brand new Superhuman Law Division!
Ginger Gonzaga (Nikki Ramos) is once again brilliant and such great support for Tatiana. The two just have a natural chemistry that is really fun and engaging. We are also introduced to Jennifer’s new boss Steve Coulter (Holden Holliway) who really fits the role well. Of course, the biggest reveal, also in the trailer so not a spoiler, was that Jennifer’s first client is played by Tim Roth (Emil Blonsky) A.K.A Abomination! Now, I LOVED what they did with his character and the story and how it really shines a great light on events within The Incredible Hulk. Roth is a fantastic performer, and he really leaves mark on the episode, and I am very excited to see where things go! There is also a great fourth break in relation to this storyline between Jennifer and Bruce that really hit hard!
While they really highlighted the feminist and misogynistic elements last week, I was very pleased to see that this continued into episode two. I’m hopeful that this is a constant thread they use each and every week, which I am sure they will! It continues to add to the layers of the show and in regard to this week, does a great job in shining a light on more everyday sexism examples.
Two episodes in and I’m totally sold on the show! The cast is fantastic, the writing is SO good and the whole vibe of the show just ticks all the boxes for me! I cannot wait to see what happens next!
