Star Wars: Andor Episode 6: The Eye Review

This review is spoiler-free.

With cover from a spectacular local festival, the Aldhani mission reaches a point of no return.

It’s time for the second arc of Andor to come to an end – it’s finally time for the Aldhani heist!

The time of ‘The Eye’ is upon us, the Aldhani pilgrims are closing in on their sacred site but the Imperials are not planning on making it easy for them. Their tactics are reminiscent of the colonisation methods of the British Empire, which is a fitting parallel. You cannot help but feel for the Aldhanis, having their home and place of worship ripped away from them under the banner of ‘progress’.

The spectacle of ‘The Eye’ builds throughout the episode and to see that gradual build-up weaved into the story was really pleasing. It was also very pleasing to see the Rebel’s meticulous planning paying off, which just adds to the importance of what we saw in the previous episodes. I enjoyed that the heist was split into two teams, while Andor and his unit pose as troopers and infiltrate by land, Vel and Cinta make a water-based entry. Going into this we knew nothing about the pair’s mission, it was extremely gratifying to see the mystery unfold and how it connected with the other unit.

The episode was incredibly tense throughout, and the emotional journey that the audience is put through is simply sublime! I was genuinely on the edge of my seat from the moment the episode began to the moment it finished. The action and scale of the production continue to impress, as do the performances of the ensemble cast. In particular, I think that this was a great episode to showcase the talent of Faye Marsay, whose character continues to intrigue me and I grow more fond of her with every episode. I mentioned previously the emotional journey of the episode and one dialogue parallel to Rogue One in particular lands a heavy blow on the heart.

All in all, this was a truly sensational episode! Bring on the next arc!
