The Bad Batch – Season 2: Episode 13 Review

This review is spoiler-free.

After last week’s incredible Crosshair episode, we return to the Batch as they look to make their next move!

The Bad Batch is working with Phee Genoa (Wanda Sykes) again and as you’d expect, things don’t go according to plan! After a, somewhat successful, artefact exchange, Phee returns the artefact to the inhabitants of Pabu, a small and secluded island paradise.

I loved the Pabu as a location and setting for the episode, it felt very Mediterranean in design and the perfect place to house all these refugees of war. I hope that the Empire never finds its way here, but given its limited resources, it offers little value to the Empire, so they should be safe! Safe, at least in regards to the Empire, not so much the massive tsunami that threatens the island! Having The Batch in a ‘natural disaster’ type scenario was something new and I really enjoyed how they executed the story. It was both exciting and entertaining but also was the perfect vehicle to explore the storyline of allowing Omega to be more of a child and less of a soldier. Given what is coming for her, she might not have this many opportunities left.

I enjoyed how this episode explored Omega’s position within the Batch, and the fact that our team seem to be sticking around for a bit, they definitely see the benefits of giving Omega some stability, at least from a childhood standpoint. I feel that this bliss won’t last long and that Omega will once again be under the microscope of the Empire.

Overall, this was a really good episode! I loved Pabu, and I loved being able to see Omega just enjoy being a kid. It only pains me, that I doubt this happiness will last for much longer before the Empire comes knocking.
