This review is spoiler-free.

QCODE has done it again with their captivating audio drama, Last Known Position. As an avid fan of their previous productions, I was excited to dive into this new thriller, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations!

Last Know Position has many strengths, from exceptional sound design and voice acting to excellent writing within the narrative, all these elements ensure that the audience experience is of the highest quality. So, let’s look at these things in a little more detail…

From a production standpoint, the audio quality is impeccable, transporting you to the heart of the story and making you feel as though you are right there with the characters, experiencing their fear, desperation and paranoia. Likewise, the story elements and the complexity of all the characters make for an engaging listening experience, and the series can quickly be finished in one sitting – the story is that good!

In terms of the cast, Gina Rodriguez (Mikaela Soto) is a fantastic lead, and she really delivers a stunning emotive performance. James Purefoy (William Cavanaugh) is mysterious, and cunning and carries a huge weight of convincing trauma within his performance. As for the supporting cast, there are some truly wonderful performances from Olivia Cheng (Eryn Huang), Venk Potula (Reyansh Chabra), Giovanna Quinto (Lisa Flores) and Ashley Bell (Ana Dileo).

As with any audio drama, the success of Last Known Position lies in its ability to engage your imagination and create a vivid mental landscape. QCODE has once again proven their expertise in this area, leaving listeners with an indelible experience long after the final episode.

So what about the negatives? To be honest, these are few and far between! The series makes a story choice in the final episode, which for me was the only misstep. I believe it removed a lot of the tension and drama that was building; however, the story’s conclusion is still satisfying. As is the HUGE teaser for a potential second series – which has been hinted at based on the success of the first series. I am very eager to return to this story and its characters!

With its exciting story, stunning production quality and talented cast, Last Known Position is a gripping sci-fi whodunit action adventure.
