Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer Review

By Ben Wright (@iamzavagno |

The first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle has landed, and we seem to be missing most of the footage from the super-fast teaser.

The clips we saw previously may be missing, but in a way that is a good thing. This trailer gives nothing away in terms of the story. So all those amazing images we’ve had a glimpse of will more than likely appear in the second story-based trailer.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can check it out below.

From Guardians of the Galaxy to Logan, a lot of films are getting it right with the music in their trailers. The same goes here, the use of Frank Sinatra had the class and sophistication that you would come to expect from a Kingsman movie. It worked perfectly with the onscreen visuals and the musical build up progressed with the action, it was nicely cut together.

As always, we take our top picks from the trailer and look at them more closely.

5 Things From The Trailer:

The End Of Kingsman?

Well, we lose Kingsman HQ & the Xavier mansion at the very start of the trailer. Looks like we lose Dumbledore too! (Hopefully, this doesn’t mean we lose the Boba Fett of the franchise Kingsman Percival).
It’s a powerful opener from a visual standpoint but also acts as a key plot device to leave Ye Olde London and head over to the good old US of A. and allow for the introduction of the Statesman.

This looks like one of the films showpieces, with that slick interior fight scene progressing into that stunning slow-mo shot of Galahad jumping mid-air onto the roof of the taxi. This looks like it’s going to be part of an epic action sequence.

America, F*** Yeah!

In the Golden Circle, a lot of the emphasis is on the US agency equivalent of Kingsman, The Statesman.  There is Jeff Bridges as the head of Statesman. Underneath Bridges are his top agents Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal and Halle Berry.
They have chosen well with the casting and we are very excited to see what they bring to the franchise.
In this scene, it looks like Galahad and Merlin are looking for the entrance to their HQ, and if this is Tatum’s first appearance, it looks to be a tasty one! Oh and love the cinematography in this shot.

Indiana Martell

Pedro Pascal looks to be having a lot of exciting action sequences in the Golden Circle. If you thought the whip crack was badass, his gunplay is even more sublime. It’s this kind of fantastical and ludicrous action that made the first Kingsman film so great. It’s over the top and cartoonish in the best possible way.

Captain Lazarus

We all knew he was coming back, and his re-introduction was so subtle it just the right way to do it. One of, if not the highlight of the first Kingsman movie was Colin Firth. He was brilliant. That church scene is still a breathtaking watch. His death, worked for the film’s story, it was disappointing for sure, but it helped the narrative. So with Colin back from the dead, does it lessen the impact of the events of the first film? Yes, a little. But the ‘get out of jail free card’ for that argument is he was so much fun the first time around so who cares!

Overall, it was a great trailer, it was certainly more of a teaser as it gave little away in terms of story, but that seems to be the trend at the minute. And let’s face it, over the years a number of trailers and TV spots have broadcast the majority of the film. This shift to entice people in with snippets rather than overloading us seems to be a better way forward.

What did you think the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle?
