This review contains spoilers.

Last week, the focus was squarely on “the bounty”, leaving us wondering if Fennec will fulfil her promise and who that enigmatic figure she contacted might be. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long for answers!

Although the Season 3 trailer somewhat spoiled the surprise, Asajj Ventress finally makes her debut in The Bad Batch! Notably, her presence ties into the canonical novel Dark Disciple, where her demise occurs, raising intriguing questions. While the explanation might lean on “Nightsister” magic, it’s doubtful the show will delve into such details. Nonetheless, Nika Futterman’s reprisal of the character left a lasting impact with her stellar performance. Her yellow lightsaber symbolises wisdom and knowledge, hinting at her mentorship role in the episode. Addressing her past transgressions added depth to her character, acknowledging the complexity of her journey from villainy to a changed galaxy.

The integration of the nature elements into the story, particularly in the setting of Pabu, was a highlight. Crosshair’s unexpected connection with a “friend” showcased his gradual return to his former self, with Wrecker notably embracing his presence. Though Crosshair was never the most amicable individual, his interactions with Omega have softened his demeanour.
Overall, this episode was thoroughly enjoyable, especially in its portrayal of Ventress as a multifaceted character post-The Clone Wars. Hopefully, her character will continue to be explored in various mediums.

Looking ahead, a double episode drop is scheduled for next week, promising even more excitement. Stay tuned for our comprehensive review. Until then, may the Force be with you!
