Black Panther Trailer #2 Review

If the first trailer for Black Panther didn’t get you excited enough, this new trailer surely will. And if you are still unsure after this one? Then we are at a loss. The hype from the this movie is real, and now they have an outstanding trailer to fuel the excitement even more. This trailer took the movie to a whole new level.

This latest trailer delivered so many amazing things, from a stunning world to exciting action sequences. And yet I still know very little about the plot, and that’s a good thing. I want to go into the cinema knowing as little as possible, and while you get a rough idea, you feel there are going to be plenty of surprises.

If you haven’t done so already, you can watch the trailer below.

Pretty impressive right?

I don’t buy the argument by some that this film will struggle and lacks appeal. It’s a Marvel movie! People said Guardians would be the first MCU flop. Then they said Ant Man would definitely be a flop. We all know how that turned out. This film looks amazing, it truly does.

If the cinematography and action sequences weren’t enough, turn your attention to the cast. Chadwick Boseman has already proven his super hero credentials with a fantastic performance in Civil War. So a strong starting point right? Now add Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira into the mix. Two excellent actresses we know can deliver brilliant emotive performances, as well as portraying strong and powerful female characters. And those who know their Black Panther history will know that this film will have plenty of strong female characters! Let’s make sure that is reflected in the toys etc yeah, talking to you Disney marketing!

Action, tick, great looking film, tick, killer cast, tick. Trust me, this film is going to be special.

5 Things From The Trailer:

Welcome To Wakanda

Wow. Our first real look at the heart of Wakanda. The mixture of futuristic tech yet a modern African setting complemented each other from a visual standpoint. We’ve been teased with the grand traditional aspects of the environment, giant panther in the jungle at the end of Civil War, so it was nice to see another side of the country.

Suit Your Sir

While the notion of one suit is nice, there’s nothing wrong with having a few spare. In classic Tony Stark fashion it appears that we may be seeing a few different suits in Black Panther. Even if it is one suit that is modified throughout, or shows previously unseen features, they are definitely going to be mixing it up in terms of what the suit can do.

Do Drop In

First of all, this scene had humour in it, which was nice to see. While I doubt it will hit a GOTG level of humour, it definitely looks more in-line with Ant Man. The film is going to dramatic for the most part with plenty of action. So it’s good to see that they will also have some moments of humour to break the intensity up.

Seeing T’Challa fall from his ship and down to the enemy convoy looks like an impressive sequence and you get the feeling that we may just be in for a real treat in terms of the action.

The Avatar King Book

Dream sequence? Vision? Memory? Who cares! Just look at that visual. Breathtaking. Colour is the big new thing with Marvel, mainly started by James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy. This trailer suits this new Marvel aesthetic really well, and no doubt the trailer will be playing in front of Thor: Ragnarok when it hits cinemas.

The panthers lying in the tree, the purple, T’Challa’s contrasting white outfit, everything about this scene is visually striking. It also ties in the other splashes of purple dotted throughout the trailer from the funky car to the new purple glow on his suit.

The Golden Jaguar

Ok. I was torn on this during my initial viewing, but after a few re-watches I’m ok with it. I thought this was a bad move to giveaway the fact that Killmonger will be in his own suit taking on T’Challa. But the more I thought about it, the more I’ve come to believe this will only help give Killmonger a character boost. Most people going into the cinema to watch this film will have little to no knowledge about any of the characters. So if you push the idea early on that he can go toe-to-toe with T’Challa and has his own suit with it’s added power benefits? You’re already on to a winner in terms of your villain.

As for the design, it looks stunning. The jaguar design with the gold just perfectly reflects the character. Though lets hope this yellow suited bad guy leaves more of an impression than Yellow Jacket did.

So there you have it, our thoughts on the second Black Panther trailer. What did you think? Let us know in the comments.
